Official Side Event by IMMA at the International Transport Forum Summit 2019

IMMA organized an official side-event at the 2019 Summit of the International Transport Forum in Leipzig, co-hosted by FIM.

The 2019 ITF Summit explored how better transport connectivity can help integrate regions – from local communities and cities to global regions – and enable the achievement of economic, social, and environmental goals.

During the Side Event, IMMA Secretary General Mr Edwin Bastiaensen, introduced IMMA’s recent best practices resource on Safer Motorcycling. FAMI Secretary General, Mr Andi Hartanto, provided a keynote manufacturer perspective from South and South-East Asia and Mr Hennes Fischer, Yamaha Motor Corporation, provided insight in the perspectives of future technologies. Ms Angela María Orozco Gómez, Minister of Transport of Colombia, explained the importance of mobility policy addressing the increasing popularity of powered two-wheelers (PTW) in Colombia. Mr Joël Valmain, Adviser to the Interministerial Delegate for Road Safety in France, reported on relevant trends and policy developments in France. Prof. Anders Lie, Special Advisor, Swedish Ministry of Infrastructure referred to the upcoming 2020 Ministerial Conference in Stockholm in February 2020 which needs urgent answers to address the increasing number of road traffic fatalities. Other major contributions were made by Dr Nhan Tran, Coordinator Unintentional Injury Prevention Unit, World Health Organisation (WHO), Mr Andrew McKellar, Secretary General, FIA Mobility, Mrs Veronique Feypell de la Beaumelle, Mr Ferry Smith, International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP) and Susanna Zammataro, IRF and Mr Jesper Christensen, co-sponsor of the session.
